A Christmas Cha,
Cha
(click the title to view
and hear online)
The rhythm of this
piece is reminiscent of popular Cuban music from the 1950's. Often when
presenting this music the performers would end with the words "cha, cha, cha."
The characteristic that brings this piece and Cuban music together, other than
these three words, is the vitality. The harmonic structure of the music,
on the other hand, is more kin to popular American music from the same era.
Although it is a
Christmas piece, the words are strictly non-sacred. If your
singers have not been introduced to this style, they will find it very enjoyable
and invigorating.
The three vocal
parts are written in the treble clef making it accessible as SSA or SSC. Click the
Three-part Variable Chart to

voicings.
