This composition
and arrangement is by Dr. James McCray, previous Chair of the Department of
Music at Colorado State University, with words by Chris McCray. At first
sight, because of the mixed meter that permeates the piece, teachers might think
the piece to be too much of a challenge for early adolescents. However,
once the students sense the feeling of the permeating rhythmic pattern in the
piano part, it becomes rather natural for them. The lyrics are
particularly appealing to early adolescents. They relate not only to the
promises of the new day "just around the bend, just for me," but they also
relate with anticipation to the excitement of their life ahead and seeing their
dreams come true.
