Peace/Just Light One
Candle
is a non-sacred selection whose text admonishes us to "just light
one candle, and let it shine for peace." It presents two
beautiful melodies that are set against each other in the last
setting. It is appropriate any time of the year, but it is suitable
for Quanza, Hanukkah, or Christmas. It may be sung by all ages,
but it is also written to be sung by groups containing changing
voices. Part II has a limited range and tessitura to make it
suitable for cambiatas. Boys with changed voices may sing
Part I 8va down.
