Sing of
Love and Peace, Alleluia
(click title to view and

This piece is akin
to jazz through its harmony and rhythm. The jazz element is best
displayed in the piano accompaniment. The texture is both homophonic (in
the chorus) and contrapuntal (in the verse). The verse has a melody
accompanied with a rhythmic chant in the lower two voices which gives
the piece life and vitality. The voicing is for SSC (or SSA) but the
cambiata part could also be sung by the light adolescent baritones as
well. This is type piece that may be considered both sacred and secular
because there is no reference to God but it is filled with "alleluias"
which could be considered to be a secular term in the context that it
serves as a term of acclamation and joy.
