HOW TO USE THIS PIECE

Come All Ye Fair and Tender Ladies

Three Part     Four Part

(click the voice part to view and hear online)

This traditional American folk song was brought to the attention of the music world by Pete Seeger.  Typically early American in character, the melody and harmonic consists of the tones in a pentatonic scale over an entire octave (do, re me so la & high do).  No other pitches are use in the vocal parts.

Check the three-part and four-part variable voicing charts to see the voicing options with which it may be used with different age singers. If you use The Adolescent Reading Singer to teach musicianship, this piece is appropriate literature to sing after studying phase four.
