Wondrous Love

Part I of this early American
two-part tune is written to
be sung by both or either male and female trebles. Part II (also written in the treble clef) is limited to the comfortable singing area
of A-A (above and below middle C) which makes it appropriate for cambiatas
(boys in the first phase of change). If adolescent baritones and/or changed voices are present, they may sing Part I 8va lower.
This piece is probably the best known of the many tunes we sing today from the
fasola tradition (often called The Sacred Harp). Its
haunting modal melody will leave the singers humming the tune in their heads. Consult the
