Kirby has designed a very singable piece
with a well-written piano accompaniment which may be played by an
adolescent or any church pianist. The text to the Old Irish Blessing is
secular throughout except for the closing which is analogous to someone
parting from a beloved friend. He or she might say "Goodbye, and
God bless you." It is suitable to be sung at the closing of
a concert or worship service.
The piece is published (hardcopy) only with four
parts. Part IV is optional, so you purchase the four-part
arrangement but you do not sing Part IV. The three-part online
version is to demonstrate how it sounds without Part IV.
